This document outlines Petrona Associates Ltd. Privacy Policy with respect to our employees or contract workers, all of who must be assured that the personal information they provide to us will be retained in the utmost confidence.
The foundation of The Privacy Act is its ten privacy principles. Petrona Associates Ltd. is compliant with each principle, as outlined below:
ACCOUNTABLITY
Petrona Associates Ltd. is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of information relating to its employees and contract workers. A Privacy Officer has been appointed and will ensure that we have developed, implemented and monitored personal information policies and practices.
IDENTIFICATION OF PURPOSES
Petrona Associates Ltd. shall identify the purposes for which personal information is collected at or before the time the information is collected.
CONSENT
Each individual's consent will be obtained at the time of collection of personal information, as well as whenever a new use is identified for previously collected information. The prior knowledge and permission of the individual are required for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information, except for legal or security reasons.
LIMITING COLLECTION
The collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified. If there is a need to update our information files, Petrona Associates Ltd. shall disclose reasons for requesting information updates before the information is actually updated and request consent to do so.
LIMITING USE, DISCLOSURE & RETENTION
Petrona Associates Ltd. shall not use, disclose or retain personal information for purposes other than those for which the information was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. This information will only be kept on file as long as is legally required by law to do so.
ACCURACY
Petrona Associates Ltd. ensures that personal information shall be maintained in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner.
SAFEGUARDS
Petrona Associates Ltd. is responsible for ensuring that personal information is protected by appropriate security safeguards and against unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
OPENNESS
Petrona Associates Ltd. shall make readily available to employees or contract workers, specific information about its policies and procedures relating to the management of personal information. Our Privacy Policy Statement, plus any details of specific practices are available to the employees or contract workers on request.
INDIVIDUAL ACCESS
Upon request, individual employees or contract workers shall be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of his or her personal information and shall be given access to the information, except with respect to information arising from investigation and/or litigation. An individual shall be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.
CHALLENGING COMPLIANCE
Our Privacy Officer is responsible for addressing any compliance concerns.
